last week of 2008

Freezing weather but at least sunny during the day. Tried to book a lesson with Ken but his school is frozen. Jane tried to book a lesson at hickstead with Chloe but their school is frozen as well.
Freezing cold all this last week, so at least no muddy horses.

Ellie
Still not right after her leg injury at the end of November. I can't believe how long it is taking to heal and think it must have been much worse than i realised.

Risque
Her mud fever just won't heal up which is a real pain.
27th Dec - took her on a hack with Gail and Carrie to Graffam with lovely sandy tracks and had some great canters. if only the woods round here were as pretty and sandy.
Sally was meant to bring Ellie but she cancelled the night before which was really annoying as it would have been a good trip out for her.

Chloe
She is fine, and Jane is still sharing her. I think she does have some issues at the moment but if she doesn't discuss them I can't help so just carrying on and see what happens.

Panache
She is fine, but not that big. Can't see her getting as big as her mother, but will just have to wait and see.

Liza
jane isn't riding her much. not really sure why. she says it is because of her... mud fever... sore back... sore hock... artritis... etc.. and she is too sharp so...........

The dogs are all fine, but will have to do some more training with them. Time is tricky so will probably wait until the shooting season has finished.

Boxing Day Chloe H

Chloe

Hunting

Hacked to the meet which met a the local pub. Sonia was on one of Ginny's horses that reared up and nearly landed on me, just catching my hand. Chloe was pretty quick and jumped out the way otherwise it could have been a lot worse.

There were loads of people at the meet, and quite a large mounted field as well. I am here somewhere!!!

Jumped some of the hedges!!!!!

that made my day, although i had a stop at one of them, but did have another go, and was really chuffed that i was brave enough.

no excuses now!!!

Christmas Day

Lunch at mums so did the horses before we left and did a ride and lead with Risque and Chloe. Quite mild today considering some of the cold weather we had earlier in the month.

Panache and Ellie went out in the field for a couple of hours and everyone stayed in today so at least i didn't have to cope with all the mud, washing them off and changing all their rugs.

still got a bad cold.

23rd December, Tuesday Chloe H

Chloe Hunting
Met at the traditional place before Christmas for a very fast hedge jumping day. I must admit to whimping out, and not jumping any hedges but just stuck to the timber fences. She jumped great and wasn't out for long as I have a stinking cold. in fact i nearly didn't go at all but I'm glad i did now.

20th December, Saturday Risque H

Risque
Hunting with the Surrey Union

I was a bit concerned about getting to the right place at the right time but it all worked out perfect. A bit of a quiet day, with a lot of standing around and not that fast, but perfect for Risque who behaved perfectly.

Sandy came to the meet to see us off which was nice.

Weather was dry with bright spells, so a good day out.

19th December, Friday

Findon Valley
Hazel and Sorrel

As this was the last one before xmas took fizz and sausage rolls which went down well. Picking up with David and Beth, although Beth just found out that OH might be having affair, so she was so upset.
Sue couldn't come, and Gail's father is very ill. So not quite the day I expected but the dogs were good and I am pleased with how Sorrel is working.
